Shira Schaktman, Psy.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist in New Jersey and New York. Dr. Schaktman has also obtained the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT), granted by the Psypact commission, which allows her to practice virtual therapy with clients located in Psypact states.
Dr. Schaktman provides psychotherapy, supervision, and consultations to individuals and couples. Her therapeutic approach is formulated with the intention of helping clients feel empowered and find their inner resilience.
With an expertise in relational dynamics and cyclical patterns that are present in interpersonal relationships, Dr. Schaktman works with individuals and couples who feel dissatisfied and “on the brink.” Throughout the therapeutic process, clients delve into the past; they acknowledge personal expectations of relationships and how to decipher their voice, versus the voices of family and friends. Implementation of boundaries is key throughout this process, as clients learn to overcome relationship roadblocks.
Dr. Schaktman’s warmth, understanding, empathy, and concern for others are indicative of who she is as an individual and clinical psychologist. Her approach is with the knowledge that we all experience challenges as we navigate life, but our struggles do not have to dictate our lives.
