Dr. Shira Schaktman, Psy.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist in New Jersey and New York. Dr. Schaktman has also obtained the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT), granted by the Psypact commission, which enables her to practice virtual therapy with clients located across all 43 Psypact states.
Dr. Schaktman provides Doherty’s Discernment Counseling, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and relationship based individual therapy for people “on the brink” and at a crossroads in their relationships.. Her therapeutic approach is formulated with the intention of empowering clients to consider change and discern a path forward.
Dr. Schaktman has expertise in relational dynamics associated with fears of abandonment, people pleasing, anxious attachment, the “pursuer-distancer” dynamic, and cyclical break ups. These concerns are prevalent in therapy sought by both individuals and couples.
